Blessed and Beloved,
In my address to you, some of you will think my vision is bold and my desire fanatical if not fantasy like, but I assure you that I am not fanatical nor are my desires fantasy. My personal witness to you is that in my own life I have seen much adversity and through it all came very close to death several times, but by Gods power I was saved.
I attest to you that the power of God is much more than we can ever anticipate or imagine. It is this same belief in God that I stand in my desire to seek the proliferation of Gods word in all its power throughout the Korean peninsula. It is my sincere desire to see that the word of God is made known in every dark corner of that peninsula, especially in the north. Although I believe one day that North and South Korea will come together in a peaceful manner, we should not only continue seeking unity through commerce and humanitarian efforts, but also keep in mind the spiritual aspect through worship and prayer by petitioning God to bring about a peaceful and unified Korea under His will and not ours. That the opportunities for laying seed in the hearts of those who are lost may come about undeterred in the north. I tell you that I have complete faith in God that He will provide avenues and open barriers that His will be carried forth in that region.
I know in my heart that the desire to see Gods word throughout the Korean peninsula can only come from the love of God. For in times past I was a very selfish person and cared not for others. It is through the word of God I have come to love my fellow brethren in faith and even for those who willfully live in ignorance. I can certainly understand their train of thought and the mental blocks and obstacles that dissuades them from coming through to the knowledge of our Savior. I have seen through my own experience how corrupt and depraved the human soul can wander in dark and complete ignorance of God and his will for our lives. My prayer is that we can provide the same opportunity that was afforded us in coming to the knowledge of God. Having first, complete faith that God, in accordance to His will, will see the unity of our long lost brothers and sisters. In the hopes that we may cultivate and grow seeds of the gospel, that they may live free from the subjection of harsh rule and strained liberty.
In our area we are known for our technology and soap operas, but in the decade to come, God willing, let us be known for our morals and beliefs as the center of Christianity in that region. I cannot promise you that I will bring about this change or that it will happen instantaneously as if some miracle (unless God wills it), but I can tell you that my desires are real and that I am completely willing to help in any effort to bring the knowledge of our Savior to those who are lost. Send me and I will go. Lead me and I will follow. No matter the job, no matter the circumstance, no matter the environment. I am ready and willing.
I am humbled to be even be considered to help in that effort, for I am honored to serve in any fashion as a missionary. I do have a sincere desire to help those that are lost in any setting. Also, by having to help others and focus on them I believe I in turn would be a better person and that experience would greatly help me in my efforts to contribute back to society as well as help me to forgive myself for the wrongs I have caused in the lives of those I have wronged.
Thank you and God bless, I remain . . . .
Yours truly,
김 성 주
